Charleville and coming home
First stop after Quilpie was two nights in Charleville, Carol wanted to revisit, as she did not get to explore the museum last year when we were here, though by now she had received information that she needed to be back in Sydney to take care of some urgent business.
Flights to Sydney via Brisbane were arranged for her around lunch on the 2nd day this did give her time to visit the museum. After I dropped Carol off for her flight I filled the car with diesel for the trip home, first to Cunnamulla for what was planned as 2 nights, then Bourke 2 nights, Nyngan and Dubbo before arriving at Anna Bay that was the plan, however I was starting to feel somewhat ill.
30km from Charleville toward Cunnamulla I can across a memorial to THE ANGELLALA BRIDGE DISASTER the largest transport explosion in Australian history this took my interest and as there was plenty of room for the car and van to park and turn around, I decided to stop to see what it was all about.
Leaving the blast zone the next stop was Wyandra a very small but welcoming town just off the main road that tweaked my attention
Continuing on to Cunnamulla arriving there at lunch time, time to explore and have lunch, by now I had decided to go as far as I could that day passing through Bourke, vowing to return someday, and onto Nyngan arriving much later then I wanted to, in the dark I missed the Caravan Park so I ended up parked on the driveway of a local Toyota dealer (it was Saturday night and they were closed on Sunday and I had planned to leave early to carry on Anna Bay
