Emerald

There was nothing really new to us in Emerald it was just a place to visit and stay to delay our arrival at Longreach. Last year when we were here we stayed in town but found a park near the Fairbairn Dam - Lake Maraboon well out of town but a place where MM could go for a swim, this is the 2nd place that was owned or managed by South Africans and where we found out about a pest that is spreading across Australia the Redclaw, no not an introduced species but an Australian crayfish  that has been spread by humans and now has become an invasive pest in areas where it was not native.

People at the caravan park were catching these literally by the bucket load, there is no bag limit, no size limit, and no permit needed to catch these pests, in fact, people are asked not to throw back anything they catch.
