Sorrento
We had a lively day in Sorrento going through the shopping alleys which date back to Roman times, we went down to the waters edge to look back at some of the hotels built upon the cliffs.
We did the ‘red bus’ tour which was lovely and it brought us to the areas famous the myths (ie “Jason and the Argonauts and the search for the Golden Fleece” and “Medusa”) you could look into the ocean and to the “Isle of Capri” and imagine all this wonderful Folklore.
Sorrento was our day, we could have gone on a tour of the Amalfi coast, but you just can’t do everything, and it is a reason to go back.
The following day was our tour to the “Isle of Capri”
Our tour guide was “Marco”, who thought he was “Rudolph Valentino”, he was wonderful with lots of laughs. We were a tour of 24 people (2 English, 4 Canadians and 18 Australians we had never met before). Marco was not only fun, but he knew what to do, we were the first group into the “Blue Grotto” it is only open so many days a year, we were there on one of those days it was open. Again a great experience that dates back 100’s and 1000’s of years Limestone makes the water very blue
