Milan
Once we left Turin we had to backtrack to Milan the last stop of our Italian venture, and where we were to catch our train via Switzerland to meet my cousin in Amsterdam.
Milan we were told we would enjoy much more than Turin by the travel agent, remember she told us we should have by-passed Turin.
This would prove to be wrong, maybe because in Turin we were in the centre of the town and could walk to where ever we wanted and there were cafés galore near the hotel, but in Milan we were booked into a good hotel fair enough there were no complaints with that hotel BUT it was out of the way a metro ride from the city and not a café in sight.
It meant we had to take the metro everywhere, even to get a snack. This tainted our views of Milan, a good hotel in a bad location not a good idea.
Milan when we were in town was interesting lots of things to see and many interesting buildings, like the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, the Duomo or Cathedral, the Sforzesco Castle , the fountain and the tribute to Leonardo di Vinci. Carol also wanted to see the “Last Supper” but we were not able to go there another disappointment.
While we enjoyed our time both Carol and I agree if we were to return to this part of Italy we would like to go back to Turin but not Milan.
