Day Five

 Cateran Bay to Tongue Bay

(The Long Way)

Day-Five

At breakfast we discussed the plans for the day so that when the morning radio calls happened we could reply without delay, it was to be an adventurous day, first stop was Whitehaven beach for a swim, then if we had permission proceed through Solway Passage toward Lindeman Island (we needed permission to use Solway Passage as in the wrong conditions there could be a large whirlpool making passage dangerous) then going outside Haslewood Island north to Tongue bay which was another well protected bay. A boat before us had asked for permission to use Solway Passage and were told it was ok as conditions made it safe, that was our permission also, our day was planned.

We did not know if we could make it all the way to Lindeman as out time was limited we had to be at or very near to our anchorage by 4:00pm and we did not want to use our motor for anything other than to charge our batteries and setting the anchor, we fell a little short but we were satisfied and once in Tongue Bay we spotted Solway Lass (Whitsundays) and we were not disappointed with the bay or what we found on land.
