Day Two

Nara Inlet to Happy Bay Via Hamilton Island

Day-Two

After radioing in for the day we set sail for the day saying that we would anchor for the night at Happy Bay part of Long Island, then we noticed a small rip in the main sail so again we used the radio to advise the marina and ask what they wanted us to do.

The message came back to head for Hamilton as they had arranged a berth there to assess the rip and fix, this suited us as we wanted to go there while we were in the Whitsundays and this way we did not have to pay for the berth.

Part of the hire agreement was that we were NOT to tie-up at a wharf without help from outside, (they had an employee at Hamilton delivering another boat and he was to assist us. We contacted the harbour master to locate the allocated berth, and headed there, but we were too quick for the marina employee who watched us berth, seeing our actions he was not worried, and said nicely done, we explained that we had done this sort of thing before we came to the Whitsundays as we were Sailing Masters.

He repaired the sail with our help saying we could have done that with our knowledge we agreed but wanted the marina to know there was some damage which was not our fault.

We said our good byes then explored Hamilton before finishing our journey to Happy Bay
