Toowoomba
The last time I stayed in Toowoomba was a long time ago in the Early 60’s, lots of things have changed so this stop was as new to me as it was for Carol. By now Jay in Chinchilla had warned us that the roads we were to travel on were closed because of the rains, so already our plans need to be altered, first off was an extra day here in Toowoomba, then some extra time in Chinchilla later to give time for floodwaters to move further south so roads could open, we even considered a change of direction, more on that later.
This was always to be just a recovery stop with no planned sightseeing outside of the city, and as the rain was still about, we stayed with that plan, going to the Cobb & Co Museum and the local parks, on the first full day apart from the museum while we were enthused with what would have been spectacular views had the weather been kind, but misty rain and low clouds were to spoil any photos.
Day two, held a little more promise, as the sun was teasing us a little as was the blue sky (as my mum would say just enough to make a bikini no more) at least the misty rain and low clouds we gone and we could see further into the distance, a reminder to return during sunnier times!
We also had a chance to explore the architecture though many of what would have been interesting buildings have been lost.
