Caloundra to Home

Heading home

Do we go inland or down the coast? This question would be answered when we found out where Linda Carol’s cousin would be when we were near, the answer was Coraki so down the coast it would be, this gave us some tome to spend on the Sunshine Coast, we managed to book a place in Caloundra for the time we had available, this also gave me a chance to try to meet a contact I had at Apollo Head Office, in Brisbane, on the Friday, (pity they were off sick) but I did manage to discuss a number of things with a co-worker to be followed up with a phone call.

Returning from Brisbane to Caloundra we spotted a road to a lookout, this was Wild Horse Lookout, the name proved too much to ignore, the road was a small road leading into a forest area but it looked a little flat not the sort of road to a lookout, it soon opened up to a parking area with a locked gat at the other end, here there was a sigh that the road to the lookout was about 700m and very steep we took this as a warning that we need to be fit to continue.

Though my fitness is questionable we could not resist taking it easy stopping to take photos along the way made the hike doable, and it was very worthwhile, we could see well into the distance.

That afternoon saw us exploring Tewantin the southern entry to Rainbow Beach and the coloured Sands which Carol was wanting to see this is in a National Park and as we had Mon Chéri with us this was a no no, it also meant driving on the beach which I felt uncomfortable doing without another car travelling with me as I do not have any recovery gear. Still the time spent here was enjoyable.

Saturday was a bit of a catchup day, shopping and housework, then some local exploring, some walking which Mini Monster enjoyed, and some driving, finally rh weather was improving.

Sunday well yesterday the weather started to look good today not so much the rain was back, not wanting to sit a wet day in the caravan, and still wanting to do some exploring, we decided to take a drive into the hinterland above the Sunshine Coast. Heading to Landsborough, Maleny, onto Kenilworth, Mapleton, then Back to Maleny and Caloundra. During this time the weather slowly improved.

Monday by now we knew that Linda would be in Coraki so that was our next stop wanting to go the shortest way I let the GPS plot our route, maybe not a good idea as it took us off the main roads, once we passed the Byron Bay and the Bangalow turn off, and instead it took us via Uralba, Lynwood, Rous Mill and Wyrallah, A narrow winding road that trucks were advised to not use narrow but also scenic. We spent three days unwinding here taking some photos for Linda’s Integrity Candles to use in selling in promoting their candles and catching up with all the family gossip, before heading back to Anna Bay and home.
