Shenzhen

Today we crossed the border into China just a short hop using public transport. We had a choice use only the MTR changing trains three times or walk to the nearby ferry terminal cross the harbour and walk to East Tsim Sha Tsui at Kowloon, neither walks were  long and as our baggage was on wheels not too hard to do and it was a chance to see the harbour again, much more pleasant then travelling underground on crowded trains so that was our choice, unfortunately we took a wrong turn and ended up at the wrong MTR station so we need to back track using the MTR just one station so not too bad but it did set our timing off a little.

We finally arrived in Shenzhen where I mad a costly mistake taking a “BLACK” Taxi instead of a proper taxi we arrived safe enough but were ripped off, this only happens to Foreigners  not locals who use them all the time, an expensive lesson learnt.

Once we were settled into our hotel room I organised a Chinese Sim Card to my spare phone through the front desk of the hotel, little did I know that the phone number I received would confuse many of my friends as it was not local to Shenzhen but to Chengdu, that was not a problem for me as the plan treated all calls within China the same with regards to cost.

Now I had a local phone I rang my friend Jenny and arranged to meet later that day and then began to explore the area around the hotel with Carol until it was time to meet Jenny for dinner and a little more sightseeing with her family.

The following morning once Jenny could get away from her work (she has her own company so not too hard to have the odd day off) she took us to Splendid China Folk Village, for the entire day, this included two different shows one just after lunch and another in the evening show (Thank you Jenny) both well worth the admission. (I could take photos during the day time show but unfortunately the evening show did not lend itself to photos
