Macau.

This morning after breakfast we were a little disappointed that the monsoon rains had arrived, as today was the day we were booked to see the “House of the Dancing Waters” in Macau.

The last time we were both in Hong Kong we had planned to go to Macau but had run out of time so this visit there was no turning back we were going no matter what.

At this time the rain was not too heavy so we were hopeful that it would go away, and we made our way to the ferry which is right at the western end of Victoria Harbour not near Central where we got off the MTR but closer to the next station Sheung Wan. For this visit we had to make sure we had our passports with us as it is an international journey even though Macau uses Hong Kong currency

Having passed through customs and immigration we settled in got the hour trip during this time the rain instead of getting lighter also settled in to be a constant drizzle, we were going to get wet.

We had hoped to do a walking tour in Macau but it was much to wet for that and at this time we did not know about the Free Casino shuttle bus which operate from near the wharf. In the end we found a local tour using a car and driver, who was quite good taking us to all the highlights and supplying us with umbrellas, eventually dropping us off where we were to see the show (Well worth seeing).

This gave us a taste but it only served to make us resolve to actually stay in Macau for more than just a day or two, as it will take much longer to really immerse yourself into the culture of Macau and see everything there is to see, and it is close enough for our friends in China to join us.
