Day 7
A relatively uneventful drive through to Lismore where we had stayed a few times, but this was very different, it was after two record floods in two months had devastated the town, what we had know as a relatively lively rural town now seemed a ghost town with many empty shops some still needing lots of cleaning before they could return to trading this included the Hotel Gollan which had once had Queen Elizabeth as a guest, the staff were still cleaning out damaged and wet objects. Where we stopped outside of a closed service station, during the flood would have been many meters under water as can be seen with the water marks on the building opposite. Damage was evidenced everywhere.
