Day Five

Having decided to redo the previous trip this time with the camera at the ready we set off in the morning, following Tourist Drive 7 out of Tenterfield as we had yesterday only this time I had my camera ready to use in the front of the car

as you can see it was a dirt road heading into an area that gives the region the name Granite Belt

An area of ancient volcanic activity but this was not my only interest in revisiting, there is also an abundance of wild life from wallabies

there were also some domestic animals

and more of that granite, before we arrived at Mt MacKenzie Lookout we needed to give way to a couple riding their bikes and stopped to speak to them, they advised that at the next intersection instead of turning left which leads to that look out turn right on to Gunyah Road and proceed to what they called “Shearers Lookout” (also know as Gunyah Road Lookout) a big granite rock on the right onto which we could drive, they also said that if we were able to, to continue for the rest of this road warning it may not be possible because of the recent weather damaging the dirt road.

Being adventurous we did as suggested, and now include a gallery of photos as we travelled on through the Mole River Valley and on to Bolivia.

During this trip we were fortunate enough to spot a Large Wedgetail Eagle feeding on a dead kangaroo but I was too slow to get the camera, this turned out to be a pair and I was still too slow, however sitting in a dead tree on the other side of the road was their fledgling and this time I managed to get a photo before it was showing signs of distress so we moved on.
