Cobar Revisited
As we could not stay in Cobar on the way to Broken Hill, we had planned to stay two nights in Cobar “FREE CAMPING” and after our stay in the “G’Day Caravan Park”, the only one in town I wish we could have but more on the park later and why you should avoid it!
We arrived in Cobar, a mining town with a lot of history, to late to explore that day so we tried to find something to eat being too tired to feel like cooking, but after trying a few cafes we almost gave up as they were all closed for the Public Holiday and we were informed that the most likely place to get some take away was the local RSL club where we finally found something to eat and as you can imagine being one of only two placed open service was slow because they were busy, we waited out side doing some walking near the Museum housed in the old Mining office building, at this time I did decide that in the morning, at the risk of feeling like a museum piece, it would be the first place we would explore, we were not disappointed it was well worth the visit and unlike other small museums where the curator is an amateur here the curator is a professional who arranged displays that did not make me feel I belonged there as an exhibit.
After the museum we continued exploring the town this time the flies were manageable, as the street food and crowds were gone
Eventually we also found the lookout over the open-cut mine that has again gone underground, photos of all these things are in the gallery
I said I would say more on the only Caravan park in town and will say it HERE
