Wilcannia

After leaving White Cliffs it was only a short drive to Wilcannia once the largest inland port in New South Wales, now sadly a little neglected with a population of only around 700 people a far cry from the population in its hay day when it was a transport hub for the wool clip, many of the old building are in need of restoration as you will be able to see in the gallery.

While we were there, we were fortunate to see some endangered Black Red Tail Cockatoos who flew over the top over us screeching like banshees.

The recent outback and Queensland rains were very apparent with the Darling River flowing at full flow the reason why so many local roads were closed.
