Traffic and Transport

Traffic it total bedlam, at first I was upset to learn that the Chinese Government did not recognise my International Drivers Licence and as such I could not drive in China

Once in China and being driven to and from the factory from the hotel, I was relieved, as it seems there is a sport in China which consists of breaking as many of the road rules in a day as you can! The winner is the person who has broken the most rules and is still alive to talk about it.

W.H.O. estimates that more than 600 people die on the road in a single day, and it must be noted that it is estimated that only 1 in 74,000 people own a car (this has increased since 2008) while 1 in 4 people own a bicycle, Motorbikes and other motorised cycles lie somewhere between these two numbers (the Chinese will motorise anything)

 1) the military are exempt from any traffic laws and

2) most private car drivers are about experienced as our “Provisional Drivers
