Life around the factory – The Village
This factory is not the only factory near the village so there is quite a number of people who use the village along with some of the local people who have Jobs or work on the farms nearby
There is a big gap between the “haves” and the “have nots” in China and in this village just outside the factory this is very evident – No English is spoken at all as these people have very little education.
In this area, people live and work in what we would call a single garage and while they have the same habit of dropping their rubbish there is no one to clean up after them.
The local creek doubles as a fishpond and unfortunately a rubbish tip, the roads are dirt and dirty not a place I would like to live, yet those who do smile and I felt it was safe to walk anywhere carrying my Nikon camera in the open alone, there was never a time I felt nervous. Once I realised the looks I was getting was for my blond (white) hair, blue eyes, and full beard, something of an oddity in China
