Perth
Finally I have arrived in Perth after a trip where I had arranged to meet up with some contacts I made through the Windsor owners group.
Balingup saw me catching up with PJ on his noisy HOG, but unlike his Motorbike he is a gentle person with a fantastic personality, we spent longer together than I had planned but not as long as we could have time went so quick.
Bunbury was where I met the Thompsons, no coffee here (I had already had 3 ups by then) but plenty of conversations about plans we both have and about our vans the good, bad and the ugly.
Once in Perth it easy to locate the Caravan Park at Midland close to the airport when I would soon reunite with Carol, I had time to gather my bearings locating the different business I needed like the family run one that would replace the caravan awning eaten by a tree at Hopetoun. I really needed this address as the replacement was to happen first thing the same day as the plane carrying Carol arrived, a busy day.
Midlands is a little out of the way near the Swan Valley well away from Maddington where I needed to be at 8:00 AM luckily there is a freeway almost straight there so that was easy I just need to be up early with the van hooked onto the car (Why did I not bring an alarm clock?) somehow I made it easily, dropping of the van and off to the airport, and returning to pick up the van Now with Carol.
What to do for Dinner the fir night we were reunited, not much around the caravan park so we looked into the Swan Valley and found The Henley Brook on Thursdays had a half-price Pizza Night so that was our pick as they were also dog friendly (A good place to take the family as there is plenty of space on the lawn for all picnic mats are supplied or you can sit at a table)
The first full day Carol was with me (Good Friday) we explored Kings Park which both enjoyed.
The following Morning Contact was made with another Facebook friend the “Fantastic Katie” and her two well behaved children, and arrangements were made to meet up in Rockingham for an early lunch, after which we continued to explore the Southern Beaches of Perth.
Guildford and the “Rose and Crown” were next to be explored
And a trip to the North of Perth to Gingin
Before planning a trip into Perth CBD and Freemantle. These proved a little disappointing as both were so crowded parking was Impossible (Next time check for Festivals in Freemantle as every parking spot was taken and all had more cars ready to swoop should someone even think of leaving). We did get the see the Gaol from the outside (no dogs allowed one of the disadvantages of having MM with us.), some of the places away from the respective CBDs and enjoyed the trip back to the caravan again exploring the beach suburbs.
Other places we managed to explore were the Perth Observatory then onto the start of the Water Pipeline to the Goldfields at Mundaring Weir having lunch at the Mundaring Weir Hotel where we were amused by the local “Freeloaders” a collection of wildlife
And tributes to David Helfgott who celebrated his 70th Birthday there with a concert.
