Mount Barker

Taking the advice of that kind elderly lady when I left Millers point, because the weather had deteriorated to light rain and knowing the dirt road would become slippery especially up the steepish clime, I headed for Mount Barker and enjoyed the drive with some stunning scenery (would have been good to photograph if it were dry and sunny.)

This lady forgot to mention the proximity to the Stirling Ranges and all they have to offer, coming into Mount Barker they made a fantastic Back drop, I made the most of my proximity to them to explore as much as I could with my four-legged companion. (Travelling with her did limit where I could go but I have no regrets as she was fantastic company at other times.)

Mount Barker appears to have a connection to the English Crown before 1400’s as tie local government is Plantagenet Shire the name of the royal family from 1154 to 1485 with the death of Richard 3rd. A Local Hotel is known as Plantagenet Hotel

The area does suffer from many feral animals but they do have a way to reduce that population
.I was not there for the count so I do not know how successful it was.
While here I took full advantage of the fact Albany and Denmark (the one in Australia not Europe) were only day trips and explored them most enjoyable days plus a day trip, meant I did not have the noise of busy jam-packed park at night just friendly neighbours.
