Port Pirie
Upon arriving in Port Pirie I discovered that the fridge in the van had gone “DEMONIC” instead of Dometic. Nothing worked and all settings reverted to one that stopped everything from working, rang the Dometic help line and they confirmed that it needed to be taken to a service agent but who? I was given a list of names to try, these ranged from local to all the way in Port Lincoln. And the wait time to see them was from 1 week to 8 weeks and that was just for an assessment and at least a further week for Dometic to assess warranty and send the needed parts to the agent, that is a long time to be without a fridge!
One agent suggested I talk to Dometic as the problem had a known cause. Have then accept the claim and send the needed part onto the agent, by the time they could see me the part would be there, Ok this then took a full day of phone calls as this was not the normal method of doing things, (at least I was in an airconditioned van) but one week without a fridge while I made my was to Port Lincoln, was doable with the car fridge, it just meant things may end up frozen, so no cold drinks. A not so pleasant end to a very memorable and enjoyable tour of the Yorke Peninsula.
Welcome to the Eyre Peninsula
Originally I had planned only one night in Port Pirie but because the fridge problems this ended being two nights But I had to be in Port Lincoln a day earlier than I had planned so my stop in Whyalla ended up being deleted, My first stop became Cowell as I had seen photos of the Silo Art and wanted to see it for myself
