The Towers of Valencia

During the mediaeval period the city of Valencia became a walled city, with a wall surrounding the main city, this wall had twelve defensive towers which also served as gates to the city. Today the wall has gone and so all but two of the towers - the Serrano Tower and the Quart Tower, both of these towers show signs of being attacked, including by aircraft during the Spanish Civil War when Valencia was being used as bombing practice by the Axis Powers before the 2nd World War

The Serrano Tower was used to protect ancient art works and the Quart Tower, though I can not find where I read it, was used as an anti aircraft gun emplacement, evidence the damage caused at this time and during the Napoleonic can be seen today.
