Much closer to where we were at Southport are the Hastings Caves

The Newdegate Cave, Australia’s largest tourist cave. A living and breathing ecosystem that boasts an identity like no other.  This a dolomite cave, a spectacular subterranean formation including flow stone, stalactites, columns, shawls, straws, stalagmites and the unusual helictites.

For those that are in the mood there is also a thermal pool to go swimming in but as this is in Tasmania and though it was “SUMMER” this was no where near warm enough out of the water (Which at the time was about 26 degrees) neither Carol nor I felt it was worth the effort to go swimming, even if the area around the pool was inviting.
