Day Two

n early start as it was to be a full day exploring Belém from the Hop-on Hop-off bus, so after breakfast we headed back down that hill and onto the bus, First stop was the Carriage Museum to see a collection of carriage used by the Royal Family and others in times past.

Next stop after a quick water stop where we saw the changing of the guards at the Palácio Nacional de Belém (Belém National Palace), which was not very inspiring was to be the where the Portuguese Tarts were first made and still are using the original recipe (they were good but not as good as yesterday’s tarts) and the Igreja Santa Maria de Belém, (Church of Santa Maria de Belem)  and the convent where the tarts were developed, we did not enter as that line was hours long, so we moved on to our last two placed on our list, Padrão dos Descobrimentos (Monument to the Discoveries) and Belém Tower.

We returned to CBD in the bus to meet with two other people who were travelling with us to Porto and heading to the station to purchase our tickets only to find that the previous day when we say that line we were in the wrong place, we need to go elsewhere in the station where there was no line, here we met our fellow travellers and proceeded to dinner at the same café we ate at the previous night.
